The science is clear: nature is now declining at an unprecedented rate in human history. Reversing the loss of nature also holds the key to our prosperity, and it is the only way to secure livelihoods and the vast majority of our economic activity that is dependent on the natural world.

2020 provides a momentous opportunity. It is truly a ‘super year’ for the environmental and sustainable development agenda. World leaders will take a series of global decisions that will set the direction for much of our planet’s future.  What we need in 2020 is a comprehensive and balanced framework for biodiversity, a package that can both answer the question of where we need to be — in terms of vision, goals and targets — but also how to get there: the implementation.
